It is officially June, which to most people means the beginning of summer. June has always been one of my favorite months of the year. Not only is it my birthday month, but it is usually the first full month of warm, summer weather. I spent a lot of time outside over the weekend and got to check out a new food truck called 3 Rooosters.
3 Rooosters is a food truck that specializes in a variety of halal dishes, including rice bowls, salad bowls, and wraps. I came across this truck at Bald Birds Brewing Company in Audubon, which often features a variety of food trucks throughout the weekend. Just before ordering, the workers offered me a free sample of their Roooster Chicken and Hen Sauce, which was delicious. I was considering the Roooster Bowl on my way over, and this free sample solidified my decision. I decided to order it with both the Hen Sauce and the Angry Roooster Sauce, which is the hottest sauce on the menu. Despite the warm weather, I was in the mood for something spicy. After a short while, my food was ready, and it was time to dig in.
First and foremost, this truck’s rice bowls are massive! The Roooster Bowl features a base of rice topped with their signature chicken, romaine lettuce, tomatoes, and red onions. Let’s start with the chicken. I knew this chicken was going to be both juicy and flavorful from the sample I tried, but adding in the other ingredients made it even better. The Hen Sauce and the Angry Roooster Sauce were the perfect mix of halal sauces, and the Angry Roooster Sauce was very spicy. These sauces mixed with the chicken’s seasoning created one of the most unique flavors I’ve ever tasted. The rice was cooked perfectly too, and when you add in the veggies, it creates the perfect rice bowl meal. I usually finish everything in one meal, but considering how much food there was, I needed to split this up into two meals. The food tasted just as good the second time, so this was a win-win.
3 Rooosters is a very unique food truck with workers who know how to make delicious and flavorful halal food. The workers were also helpful in recommending which sauces go well together and which ones go well with each bowl. I will definitely need to order from them again sometime soon to try some of their other offerings. Check out their Instagram to follow along and see where else you can find them this summer.
