Pulled Pork Sandwich - Holy Que Smokehouse

Summer is just around the corner, and one of my favorite things about the season is a good old-fashioned barbecue. Whether it’s the warm weather, the company of friends and family, or simply the food, there’s nothing like a good barbecue. That being said, I figured it was time to check out one of Philly’s popular barbecue-themed food trucks, Holy Que Smokehouse.

Holy Que Smokehouse is a food truck that is all about wood-fired Texas barbecue. This business originally began as a restaurant in Lahaska, Pennsylvania, and also operates a food truck alongside the restaurant. I saw the food truck was going to be at von C Brewing Co. last week and decided to go check it out. I didn’t realize it at the time, but this was on May 16th, which is National Barbecue Day. The menu is simple, but it reminds you of a backyard barbecue, with different sandwiches and sides to choose from. I decided to go with the Pulled Pork Sandwich, which was ready in just a few minutes. These workers are very quick and efficient.

The Pulled Pork Sandwich is served on a potato roll and topped with a massive helping of pulled pork. On the side is some of the truck’s signature barbecue sauce, which I decided to layer on top. After one bite, I could tell this truck knew the true meaning of a barbecue. The pulled pork was so flavorful, both with and without the barbecue sauce. The barbecue sauce was a perfect mix of sweet and tangy, which is what I think makes a good barbecue sauce. I even have to compliment the potato roll, which was super soft and fresh. This sandwich was the true definition of good old-fashioned barbecue food and was certainly a generous portion of food.

If you like barbecue food, I highly recommend Holy Que Smokehouse. As mentioned before, you can check out their full restaurant in Lahaska, Pennsylvania, or look for their food truck at different events and breweries throughout the summer. Check out their Instagram to learn more about their food and to see where you will find them next.
