Pulled Pork and Coleslaw - Meat Wagon BBQ

Last Friday, I attended a festival at St. Maria Goretti Church in Hatfield, PA, which featured live music, a beer garden, and, most importantly, food trucks. I had the chance to check out several food trucks, and I’ll be writing about each one over the next few weeks. To kick off this series, let me introduce you to Meat Wagon BBQ.

As the name suggests, Meat Wagon BBQ is all about classic barbecue, offering a variety of sandwiches and sides. With a tagline like “Swine Dining,” it’s clear this truck has a creative spin on its offerings. I had seen their truck at different food truck events throughout the summer, but until now, I hadn’t tried their food for myself. decided to order the Pulled Pork Sandwich with a side of Coleslaw.

The workers at Meat Wagon BBQ are incredibly efficient—taking orders and getting food out to customers quickly. My meal was ready shortly after I ordered, and I headed straight to their BBQ sauce station to top my sandwich with their signature Hot BBQ sauce. Needless to say, I was excited to dig in.

The Pulled Pork Sandwich featured a generous portion of tender, flavorful shredded pork on a soft long roll. You can tell the team behind this truck is passionate about barbecue—the meat was perfectly cooked, tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. I drenched mine in the Hot BBQ sauce, which had just the right amount of heat for my taste. The spice wasn’t overwhelming, making it enjoyable for most people. But if spicy isn’t your thing, they also offer a milder, more traditional BBQ sauce.

The Coleslaw was the perfect side for the sandwich. I’m pretty picky when it comes to coleslaw since I often make it at home, but Meat Wagon BBQ nailed it. Their coleslaw had a homemade feel, offering a perfect balance of crispiness and creaminess.

Overall, Meat Wagon BBQ is a must-try for any barbecue lover. In addition to their food truck, they have brick-and-mortar locations in Hatfield and Quakertown, PA. You can find their food trucks at various events around and outside the Philadelphia area. Be sure to follow them on Instagram to see where they’ll be next and to get a closer look at their menu.
