Meat Lover - Red Stone Pizza

Last Friday, I stopped by Ambler, PA, for Food Truck Fridays. This outdoor beer and food festival is hosted by Well Crafted and Ambler Yards and is held on the third Friday of every month from May to October. The festival featured plenty of food trucks, including a mix of new and familiar options. One of the food trucks I tried for the first time was Red Stone Pizza.

Red Stone Pizza specializes in wood-fired brick oven pizza, with a menu featuring both classic and unique pizzas. As a pizza enthusiast, especially for wood-fired pizzas, I was excited to give them a try. Their menu offered some very interesting choices, but I ultimately decided on the Meat Lover. Their ordering process was very efficient, involving giving customers a buzzer that alerts them when their food is ready—a much better alternative to listening for your name. I waited just under ten minutes before my buzzer went off.

The Meat Lover is a personal-sized thin crust pizza topped with fresh tomato sauce, mozzarella, pecorino cheese, bacon, pepperoni, and sausage. The tomato sauce was full of Italian flavors, clearly made from fresh tomatoes. Pecorino cheese, which I hadn’t tried before, is similar to Parmesan but younger, making it softer and creamier. It blended perfectly with the mozzarella. These cheeses didn’t stretch after every bite, making the pizza even more enjoyable.

The bacon bits were scattered throughout the pizza, adding an additional crunch. The pepperoni was slightly crispy but not too much, while the sausage came in thick slices. Both were full of flavor and had a slight kick to them. The pizza also had a few scallions on top, which added a nice and unique flavor. Impressively, the thin crust held all of these toppings without falling apart.

Whether you prefer classic or unique pizza, I highly recommend Red Stone Pizza. If you’ve never had wood-fired pizza before, this is a great place to start. You can typically find Red Stone Pizza roaming the streets of Philly, though they occasionally venture outside the city to breweries and festivals. Follow them on Instagram if you want to keep up with their locations.
