Birria Tacos - Burrito Feliz

Anyone who knows me well would likely agree that tacos are probably one of my favorite foods. I might even go as far as to say that tacos are my all-time favorite food. Since yesterday was Cinco de Mayo, I figured it was time to talk about some tacos I recently tried from a Mexican food truck called Burrito Feliz.

Burrito Feliz was a new food truck for me, and surprisingly one that I've only just recently heard of. Looking at their Instagram account, this truck appears to be very popular among Philadelphia residents. I stopped by Wissahickon Brewery a few nights ago to check them out and was amazed by how busy this truck was during its first hour of service. The menu has plenty of Mexican food options to choose from, and I decided to go with the Birria Tacos. Birria is a type of beef that is slow-cooked and seasoned with a variety of spices. Despite the crowds, these workers were quick and efficient. After a short ten-minute wait, my tacos were ready, and it was time to dig in.

This meal came with three beef tacos, each one made up of two crispy corn tortillas. This is common among most food trucks and is likely meant to keep the tacos from falling apart, which happens all too often. Along with the beef, the shells were lined with melted cheese, onions, and cilantro. The beef was so flavorful that I immediately understood the benefit of slow-cooking it. This was truly authentic Mexican food. On the side were three limes for adding some extra juices to the tacos (highly recommended) and some of their signature salsa. What I wasn't expecting was the side order of broth that came with this meal. This is the broth used for slow-cooking the meat and was the perfect complement for an already perfect taco meal. These tacos instantly became a new favorite.

If you like Mexican food, you need to check out Burrito Feliz. And if you love tacos as much as I do, I highly recommend their Birria Tacos. After one visit, I can see why this truck is so popular. Burrito Feliz does a lot of roaming throughout the city so check out their Instagram page to follow along and see where it'll be next.
