Happy Labor Day to everyone reading this on the day it was published! Labor Day has always been a bittersweet occasion for me, as it often marks the end of summer. For as long as I can remember, Labor Day weekend has been treated as the last big summer weekend. So, what better way to close out the season than with an old-fashioned barbecue from Smoke Break BBQ?
I first discovered Smoke Break BBQ earlier this summer and was excited to see they’d be stationed at the Upper Merion Farmers Market in King of Prussia—just a short drive from where I live. As I approached the truck, I could smell the fresh barbecue being cooked right on the grill. There were quite a few people in line to order, a clear sign of this truck’s popularity, but the crew kept things moving quickly. Their menu was filled with plenty of tempting barbecue options and classic sides, but what really caught my eye was their Brisket Burger. You can order it plain or elevate it with bacon, pulled pork, or beef brisket. I’ll never turn down a good bacon cheeseburger, so that’s what I decided to order. After a short wait, my burger was ready, and I couldn’t wait to dig in.
The Bacon Brisket Burger is massive! It’s a 100% Angus beef patty topped with a thick layer of American cheese and perfectly crispy bacon. I didn’t hesitate to top it off with their signature BBQ sauce. There’s nothing quite like a fresh-off-the-grill burger, and this one didn’t disappoint. The patty was hot, juicy, and grilled to perfection, with the brisket flavor coming through in every bite, making it both a delicious and unique experience. The cheese added just the right amount of richness, and the crispy bacon was the ideal finishing touch. But what really set this burger apart was the BBQ sauce. I’m not sure what Smoke Break BBQ puts into their sauce, but it’s the real deal. It has the classic BBQ flavor with a slight tangy kick that elevates everything it touches. You can tell this crew knows how to craft a fantastic burger and an amazing BBQ sauce.
Smoke Break BBQ is the perfect food truck for anyone craving an old-fashioned BBQ meal on the go. While they don’t have a fixed location, you can often find them at various outdoor events around the Philly area. If you’re interested in learning more about their food or want to catch them at their next location, be sure to follow them on Instagram to stay in the loop.
